My ST1100 has heated handlebar grip that have been assemble with an external switch for OFF/START/ON.

In connection with the dismantling of the trailer hitch, there was a red wire that was connected to where the electrical for the trailer connector was connected to the cable that went to the taillight. I was unsure what the red wire was that was stretched forward on the bike and disappeared under the gas tank cover but disconnected it because it was not something that was from the Honda factory.

I am also in the process of a major service "all over" to get an overview of the condition so when the gas tank cover was dismantled I see the red wire goes to the external switch for the heated handlebar grip.

Here is something I haven't understood, why stretch the wire to the connector for the taillight ??

To lazy to do the job properly is my opinion. Whoever did it was to lazy to do the work to wire it correctly to a proper power supply and took power from an easily accessible place.

So there is a free port with 12V ignition power for extra lights / equipment on the bike? Is there any overview of that?

So good, thanks for the help. You guys are amazing :thumb: Found another thread with some similar info …
