I stuck a magnetic Screwdriver in and thru the nut to hold it in place. worked great.You can easily slip a wrench on the nuts to hold them while to replace them.

They are easily replaced without removing anything other than the mirror cover. They are screwed on from the outside.

No different than any other nut and bolt set-up in that a person needs to hold on to both ends of the fastener but it is worth mentioning this for those who may not know that the nut is not a captured nut, so hold on to it.True unless the inside clip drops out of place. ( the “nut).
