Oil leak - 40 amp

I have a 93 1100, that has an oil leak.It's bad enough that it's doing a good imitation of an AMF era Harley. So my question is this. How hard is it to change the gasket/o rings. I consider myself to be fairly competent working on the bike. Certain things I still go to a mechanic for though, prefer someone who is more qualified than I.

Yes it has been converted to a 40 amp previous owner. Yes I am sure it's the alternator, already had the shifter gasket replaced last winter. I have also been watching and cleaning to make sure.

It is a pretty labor intensive job. Most of the Tupperware, fuel tank, rear wheel, swing arm and oil drain plug have to come off as i would also remove the alternator base W drive gear to replace the O ring on it along with the O ring and seal on the alternator.
