anyone have experience with the Olympia Nomad jacket?

on my long trips, to take a hot weather mesh jacket and 2nd heavier jacket for the cold, even with electric liners, is WAY bulky and eats up a lot of storage. it would be great to have a true 3-4 season jacket all in one. However, in OK it is so HOT so much of the year I can't deal with a jacket that will leave me sauteed - so the hot weather comfort is important as well - any truly "do-it-all" jacket out there? advice?

thanks - KS

You may want to try a mesh jacket with a thermal liner like the Olympia Moab or Airglide III.

I'm waiting for the hi-viz material to start shipping, then I'll buy one of THESE. A Gerbings heated jacket liner packs small, so I figure the combo should cover all elements if I take a ride which encompasses such. Otherwise, I'll use season-specific gear closer to home.

:plus1:

I have the Airglide III in Toxic High-Vis Color scheme. Not sure about durability as I have only been using for couple months. I like it a lot, seems to be high quality, and flows air really well. I do feel that the jacket will handle any winters that I will see down here in MS.

I recently got an Oly Airglide 3 for hot weather (and boy have we had hot weather this year!) Works well at letting air through and appears to offer good protection (though I would have preferred some ballistic material on the elbows) Comes with the cool weather liner and rain liner, of course. Trouble with a short jacket like this in the rain is the jacket body isn't long enough to keep water out around the waist. The Aerostich Roadcraft jacket works better because it is 3/4 length. My Tourmaster Sonora is also 3/4 length (but since I lost the rain liner it isn't much good for wet weather riding anymore) I'll probably bring along a rain jacket to cover my Airglide 3 when needed.

Just my 3 cents.

that Airglide looks good. I have the Gerbing set-up which is great, so I figure I've got the "cold" part covered if the rest of the jacket is at all substantial. thanks -

That's exactly what I do depending on how cold it is. If cold, I use the removable thermal liner that comes with the Airglide. If colder, I plug in my gerbing's liner along with the Olympia liner. If you want an Olympia product that is a bit longer or 3/4 length, get the Moab, formerly known as the Bushwacker.

I dropped an email to their "contact us" address (Olympia) and got a personal response in less than 12 hours from the owner. Way cool to get service like that.. he suggested the Moab, Airglide, or Nomad - so it all starts to make sense - gonna save my nickels and go that route (Olympia).

The hi-viz model was finally released for sale and I bought one. Less than a week later, I shipped it back because I got soaked riding though a steady rain for an hour. I've read favorable reviews with the other available colors in regards to its waterproof outer shell, so I tend to think Joe Rocket has a problem with their new hi-viz material. Now I'm debating whether to try one of the other colors of the same jacket, or move on to another brand.

I have the predecessor to the nomad the transition GT. I love this jacket for the reasons you said. On a fall trip through the west I experienced temps from 28 in Colorado to 104 in Phoenix and with an electric liner the jacket worked well and couldnt have asked for a more versatile jacket. I did wear a rain jacket over it during the 28deg day since it never got above 35 that day. I have recently also bought the X-moto jacket which is the same concept in 3/4 length.
For the best deal I would recommend Tellico Motorcycle Outfitters www.tellicomoto.com. Not much of a web site but call Mike at the store and you wont find better prices or service.

I too have the GT transition jacket. This jacket replaces my Tecknic Stinger (road rashed badly) and my Tour Master draft with thermal liner. Looked at the Nomad but found a GT for 1/2 price on a closeout. Vents as well as my TM Draft mesh jacket and will probably come close to the Tecknic in the cold.

The Nomad is probably the closest thing to a 4 season jacket made.
