So I’m looking to replace my speedo cable.

I replaced a cable from eBay for a good price, installed last Jul and has been working well for 10,000km.

Originally my Speedo only fluctuates around the 100km/hr mark, new replacement solved the issue.

Where I’m located, finding new parts for st11 getting very difficult and will need shipping from Japan by Honda main distributor(if they’re willing), will take weeks/mths and at mercy of distributors.

A speedo cable isn't a primary system part (like vehicle illumination, tires, brakes or engine & transmission), so you can get away with a (well made) pattern part...
It should however be maintained and inspected:
- see that its bottom end is slightly lubed to increase lifetime and corrosion protection, but never so much that it creeps up into the speedometer (the marine grease in my speedo drive works itself up there, so I add just a slight smear on the cable when installing a new one)
- it should be replaced once the plastic coating shows cracks/wear, exposing the steel construction to the elements.

Riding ST's since '92 I only replaced 2 in all those years; all preventive over cracks in the plastic coating, never had a snapped one...
