What did you do to / ride to with your Beemer today?

I needed a sanity ride yesterday. The mountain passes are full of white stuff...snow and salt. Neither conducive for riding therapy. So I headed out to the coast.

The temps stayed between 37-39F. Much of the trip by the water was in fog. Sorry, no beautiful bright sunny skies with vistas stretching out for miles.

I rode out to Tyee Beach...only to find it is private with nothing to recommend it. So I headed north on Camano Island to Triangle Cove.

Lots of birds that didn't seem to mind getting their feet wet or muddy. Very quiet. Except for the birds, it was just me and my tinnitus. ;) In the distance, is a spit with houses sitting right off the water.

Iverson Trail Preserve. Absolutely calm winds and water.

Good time.

My ‘24 1300 GS is sleeping under cover in the garage, with no riding until early May. Meanwhile I’m ordering stuff…Speedbleeders, Warm-N-Safe jacket liner, rear fender inner.

This is the time of year that the tulips come out. Just up north of me is where the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival is. They are the second largest tulip growing area outside of the Netherlands.

Here are some snow geese. 65,000 migrate through here each year.

Here's a picture of the tulip fields, ...actually only one of many.

On the way back, I caught this view of Padilla Bay. Unfortunately, the tide is out.

Changed tires yesterday. I put on some Bridgestone T32s that I had from back when I had the white F800GT. They probably had less than a thousand miles on them when I sold the bike. And...they are the same size as I needed for the F900XR.

Took the bike down to Vallentine Motors to get the valve inspection done. The local BMW dealer wanted something like $1100 to do that and change the oil. Oh, and check for loose bolts. That's a lot of money for only one major thing. Vallentine Motors are two former BMW mechanics who opened their own shop years ago and have a great reputation for quality work. So that was today.

In the next week or so before my trip to New Mexico, I'll change the oil. And that'll take care of the 12,000 mile service. :thumb:
