Numb hand?

You could also have tennis elbow or golfer's elbow. Either can result in hand numbness, both of which are commonly caused by over-use of the hands.

Which side of your elbow is sore?

Exactly what part of your hand/fingers goes numb?

I'm not a doctor. 1 wrist surgery, 1 finger surgery, 4 elbow surgeries, and 2 shoulder surgeries. That and a certain amount of anatomy and medical information gets used in my job.

My numbness in the left hand was caused by a pinched nerve in my neck. Had a disc removed and fixed the problem. I had the shock tests several times, because the doctor thought the problem was in my wrist or elbow.

Risers and a Cramp Buster has helped me a lot on my ST1300. I also noticed that if I make it a point to first grab the throttle from above rather than behind, my wrist ends up in a better position when I twist the throttle.

Thanks, Bikeric. I had a Crampbuster, but over time it got loose as if it had stretched somehow, and just started rotating around the grip over the course of a few minutes and would not stay in the same place. I wonder if Grip Puppies would help? I have been wanting to try those anyway.

Perhaps installing the Crampbuster over the Grip Puppies would help keep the Crampbuster in place....

There are a couple of types, Throttle Rocker has ones that uses Velcro and ones that just clips on. I have both models with the Velcro on my Kawi and the clip on the ST. If either gets overly loose you and you can't seem to to tighten the,m just put a but of old inner tube under it as a friction fit.

Take notice of where your hand is numb. Carpal tunnel syndrome makes your thumb and fingers over to and including the inside half of your ring finger numb the best I remember.

I play guitar and ride. It made both miserable. I have had both hands done and highly recommend it if that is the problem. A good dr. can test it in the office very easily.

I also recommend staying awake while having it done. The first shot hurts pretty good. Doesn’t take long and you can drive yourself home. Takes a year or so to get back to totally normal however you can resume most of normal life in a couple months.
Hands work completely normal except for arthritis

I think it affects different people w/ differing symptoms. I had numbness of my pinky, ring finger and middle finger. The thumb and forefinger were fine. Doc said it was carpal tunnel, but I got away w/ wearing wrist braces at night. After maybe 3 months of the braces I was good to go for up to a year w/o them.

because the doctor thought the problem was in my wrist or elbow.
Or he was just having a bit o' fun. Doctors see a lot of tragedy and disappointment and I imagine it's nice to take a moment to let some sunshine in.

Carpal tunnel is a condition that affects the median nerve. The Ulnar nerve is nearby but probably not giving you problems due to the same underlying causes of carpal tunnel syndrome. Ulnar involvement may be ulnar tunnel syndrome. One can have both.

Either may also relate to elbow pain.

Mine is really bad. My right arm - I can not fully straighten it at the elbow. Second joint little finger - looks like 1/2 a marble is glued to it.
Last week, I had an MRI done at the VA hospital for my middle-finger, right hand, 'cause they haven't figured out why I can't bend it (they don't know if it's rheumatoid, osteo, gout, ...).

My doctor did explain why all this is happening: "you've got too many birthdays behind you".

I did lots of stupid things with my hands/arms when I was young. Followed that up with 20yrs in construction. That finished off both wrists and elbows. Carpal Tunnel Release on both wrists, Cubital Tunnel Release on both elbows. Weakness, pain, numbness, tingling, loss of response ALL very much relieved. Best decision ever. The Nerve Conduction Test for Carpal sucks, electrodes in your hand and forearm+apply Frankenstein voltage. It's even more fun when they do the Cubital test. The electrodes go in the back of your neck and spine.... All that said, prior to the surgeries I couldn't ride a bike of any sort for more than a few minutes. Now, it's like new. If you think you may have a nerve problem, get it checked out. It doesn't get better, and the damage is cumulative. RT

Have you tried adjusting your clutch and brake lever angles to improve ergonomics?
Rotating down so that your open hand and wrist more closely follow your forearm angle, and adjusting reach if applicable, can help lessen fatigue and improve comfort.
Along with some better grips and maybe a heaver bar end weight to dampen vibration might help.
Buy another cramp buster too.

I experienced what you're describing tt48. Stop by a golf shop and pick up a Theraband Flexbar. The Flexbar exercises for tennis elbow worked quick and solved it for me.
