What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Synchronized my carbs. Went very well. Set my gauges up, 2 & 4 were spot on identical, 1 & 3 were off (high) with 3 being the worst. So I scooched them down bit by bit and got all four nice and level. . Waited a minute or two and fired up again to double check before buttoning it all up again. Sounds sweeter ticking over and lovely and free revving. Took about 2 hours but I wasn’t in a rush and enjoyed doing it.

Put oil and coolant in today. Measured up the custom brake lines I need and made a parts list. Read a bunch of posts about rear brake woes generally associated with linked system in conjunction with questionable maintenance history. Replaced crappy Chinese battery previous owner installed. Added heated gloves dongle.

Fitted a dashcam. Was looking at the Innovv K5, but decided I didn't need (and couldn't afford) the 4K front camera. Then the K3 (1080p front and back), but then saw the Viofo MT1 - nearly the same innards as the K3, but two thirds the price. Still 1080p front and back, but apparently lower bitrate. Still, it's a Novatek device, and a firmware download is provided, so quite simple to bump the bitrate up to 22MBps front and back so it now exceeds the (stock) K3 bitrate. UK motorcycle number plates so far appear to be just about legible at 10 meters, which seems pretty good given the really wide angle view.

Tried to get the cameras mounted on the centreline, without being tooooo obvious. Not much to see otherwise - the recording module and power supply etc fit under the rear seat, with the recording module tucked under the rubber strap holding down the ABS computer. There's a GPS mouse that I've fitted under the under-screen panel (internally, on top of the dash moulding) and a 'remote' with buttons for 'saving' a recording and a mic, which I've fitted through one of the air vents (might move this later to above the dash). Powers on with ignition, starts recording, then when the ignition's turned off it stops recording, finalises the two files, and shuts down cleanly. It runs a wifi hotspot which you can connect a phone too and using their app see a live view of both cameras (handy for aligning them) and adjust settings and download/view recorded files. Or you could pull the SD card and stick it in a laptop. It loop records, overwriting the oldest files when the disk is full, so should just work in the background being ignored until I want to pull some video for whatever reason.

When I rode the 2010 the other day to Kolob Canyon, the speedometer wasn't working at first and the "FI" light was on. SO I stopped, turn it off, then back on and it was fine. Then yesterday, I took it around the block and the speedometer wasn't working again. Looks like I'll need to get it on the lift and check things out. I'm suspecting the speed sensor.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's probably the speed sensor.

I do have lights! I'm running a SDC modulator off the left side headlight connector, with LED headlights.

They usually dip down for a moment as the speed sensor cuts out, but then come back on, at least that's been my experience.

Yesterday just ran a few local errands, trying to find hunting ammo.

Heart speed up moment when on the highway a car came up on my left (legally) and the person merging in on the right wasn't looking and it seemed for a moment I might be the filling in a car sandwich! A twist of the throttle and I was the heck out of there.

Today I learned you get no power to the injectors or the fuel pump if the tip over sensor isn't connected.

The only thing left to do before full assembley of the tupperware is to order and install the brake lines and bleed the system tomorrow.

I don’t know of any that get bigger than the giant puffball, which can get even bigger than this example. Although mushrooms like Hen of the Woods can grow in pretty big clusters. Me, I would much rather find giant examples of the morel, like these that I found this spring. Much tastier!

STripped STerling to her bones yesterday. Got the thermostat housing removed. Also pulled the carbs, so ready to do new elbows and PAIRectomy.

Gotta search the correct Stant thermostat number

*Way* too many fasteners just to remove the Tupperware. Gotta pull the radiator in order to do the timing belt, pull the valve covers to do another valve check and probably some shims. Headlight is out so new LED bulbs can be installed.

At least 2 more days of thrash.
