What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Well it was a busy day with the 1100. Ran out and did a few errands. Yesterday i finished buffing out the recently wet sanded paint on my bike from the previous owner. He painted it and kinda wet sanded it enought to make it shiney. Anyways I digress. I was able to get out for a 2 hour ride this afternoon the longest in a few weeks. After i got home I washed the bike got out teh swirl remover and got rid of the buffer marks. A nice coat of yellow wax 26 and the bike looked 10 years younger. This inspired me to to get out teh aluminum polish and back to black to make the rest of teh ride look all shiney. I added some bling that I got about 2 months ago for my birthday. Got some ST 1100 master cylinder covers and add a pair of African Twin Honda badges for a touch of class. lol. See attached pics. Now starting to get my self ready for a long at least 2 or 3 day ride depending on things next weekend. Please note the pics were taken while cleaning was still in progress!

Went to the local Goodwill and picked up a Garmin Nuvi 1350 for $5.00 ran a dedicated USB cable up to the dash and will get a decent stick on mount for it. My phone has other uses as I ride, and if I lose, or someone is desperate enough to steal the GPS, I'm out five bucks and ten minutes work.
Of course, there's the three hours it's taking to update the maps....
Sitting on top the dash, gives me a great view of my speed, the local limits, and my route, without having to glance down at the RAM mount...

Five hours later...
I added an extension to my SAE battery tender cable that I ran up to the left hand fairing box. The previous owner had some sort of electronics gear in there so it was pre-drilled and had a grommet in place with cut-outs for one large and one small cable. I ran a USB cable down through the rubber where the windscreen adjusts, to the fairing box as well. I added a double USB adapter, with an SAE end, and this is where I am now. It all works, I can charge my phone, or my Cardo Packtalk Bold, and still run the GPS. The clip mount is glued in place, but the ball mount allows the unit to be removed.
All told, including the GPS and the SAE plugs, I'm out $10.00. The extension for my tender cable was left over from when we replaced our RV awning last year. I had 12 feet of cable with and SAE factory installed at one end.Good Question.jpg

Yeah we had a quasi tech meet - fixed David’s coolant leak and installed a new thermostat, clutch handle the little push rod rubber seal. I got new leds for the headlights and other little things ya do when hanging out at the shop.

Replaced engine coolant. After four years it was time. Honda type 2 car coolant still look good after 4 years but as i said earlier time to change it. Oh btw of course I used Honda type 2:biggrin:

I rode out to Astoria, Oregon from home (Tualatin, OR) about 100 miles out and back. I stopped at Mo’s for some seafood and some Marionberry pie. 212 mile round trip….with a stock seat. Ouch. The photo I have attached standing next to my ST was near the end of august this year when I bought it at a dealership in Washington. I have already put 2k miles on it. Last weekend I rode to Timberline Lodge, Mount Hood, Oregon. Yes, that one called ‘the overlook hotel’ in ‘The Shining’. As a matter of fact they were having a showing of the shining there today. I had some soup and a coffee there last weekend. Yesterday, I rode to the ‘bridge of the gods’ (Cascade Locks, Oregon) and had a chicken Cordon blue sandwich.
Sorry no photos of the stop in Astoria or Cascade locks. I ride this bike to work (12 miles one way) as much as I can now until the rain or ice comes.

the ‘98 VFR is the other bike I have and that photo is from this summer at Hagg Lake near Forest Grove, Oregon.

My battery tender arrived today, and since we're in for an extended bout of inclement weather, I'm taking advantage of it by testing the whole system I installed for the GPS.
Unplug the SAE connector used by the USB converter, plug in the tender to power, then plug in the SAE connectors.
Hey look, it works!

My dryer was out, tested the thermal fuse, bad, rode about 30 miles to a shop and got new for $16. I'm riding down highway about 70, car in front of me throws something up from the highway in front of me, I almost poop my shorts before I realize it's a foam pool noodle about 2 foot long.....wow

Cleaned the bugs off the front, reset the tires to 42psi (fall weather change), changed the rear Garmin TPMS battery only have the front one crap out on me, and so I ordered a new battery for the front TPMS. Oh, yeah, warmed her up before I shut her back down (didn't want IGOFAR to chastise me...). And you??

After taking the 2010 :bl13: to gas up and prepare for the winter, I got sidetracked and forgot to put in the stabilizer and plug it back into the battery tender.

Two weeks later, I remembered to plug it in, but checked it before, by trying to start it...yep, dead. Plugged it in and came back a couple hours later and it started just fine, so I left it plugged in.

So today, I remembered I forgot the stabilizer, so I went out and put the stabilizer in it, and figured I'd make sure it would still start. Turned it on, got some lights and then nothing! I checked the fusses and they were all fine. so I pulled out my battery tester and it showed 10.1 V....hum.

So I pulled off the battery from the '04 and installed it on the 2010. The 2010 fired right up!

Yep, a bad battery! :censored:

So I went ahead and ordered two, that way I'll have one in reserve incase the 2012's goes bad too.

Rode 20 miles to a cafe for lunch. Man was it windy. Gusts were moving my bike around a lot but glad I got out before the rain.
