What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

My ST1300's previous owner had purchased the Givi V47 top case.
-I purchased and added the GIVI LED light kit for the lid on this case. I have not connected the wires to the brake lights/running lights yet.
-Only recently did I read about 'positaps'. Whomever it was that created this device must be rolling in the dough. I don't know the AWG (wire gauge) of the wires to the brake/running lights. So, I have not purchased any wire taps yet. I will when I can figure that part out. Are they 18 AWG? I suppose I can go into another page on this forum and find out.
-I have some 90 degree tire valve stems to install, but I don't have the need, quite yet, for that.
-I would like to mount my phone, but want it mounted up high in front of the windscreen.

I haven't mounted it yet, but planned to go external. I was also thinking of 3D printing a wedge that I'd mount it to that would angle it forward and down toward the license plate rather than simply down. I'd use another small strip of 3M VHB tape to do that.


Well, I'm a do it yerselfer, so I sourced all my components individually.

There is a seller on ebay, lightenupgrade, that sells a complete kit with everything except the headlights and license plate light. Here's a listing for it. Switchback Indicator kit DRL ST1300 inc rear indi tail LED bulbs lightenupgrade. Price? Approx. $164 USD plus about $28 shipping from the UK for the same components I bought for $111.87 delivered. Oh, and that's for the Euro spec ST1300, not the USA Spec. That USA Spec kit only includes the front lenses and switchback LEDs and a replacement wiring plug.

But I totally benefitted from all the legwork that other members of this site did on performing the same conversions and sharing with us. There are lots of threads on this site that cover this in great detail. But in general with the exception of replacing the flasher and the mounting of the headlight electronics modules along with the tab modification, it's no different than simple bulb replacements.

Below is what I ordered and from where. I paid $111.87 for everything that's in the lightenupgrade kit, but the red and amber rear lights came in 4-packs so I have two each remaining of those. I've got two other bikes they'll likely go in. Then I added the headlights and the Oznium module. Total cost including those was $175.

There are many sellers of the clear lenses for the 1300 on ebay. I suspect they all come from the same molds and same factory. Their price shipped to the US all hover just above $30 USD.

I chose the QasimLed T10 bulbs specifically to match the color temperature of the headlight and they do very well. To my eye and my cell phone camera the white of the iBrightstar switchback bulbs match those lamps rather well too.

This was a very straight forward swap of bulbs and flasher with perhaps the exception of removing the tabs from the headlight bulb rings. I used a Dremel with a cut off wheel. Others have just bent them off using pliers. But regardless I would recommend removing the headlight shell and follow the method @Obo shared for mounting the Katana electronics modules. We used 3M Dual Lock to attach them to the back of the headlight on either side of the bulb socket.

TNBill, I agree. Some people just should not touch tools. All I do is work on ch-47 chinook rotorheads and swashplates all day, but what do I know?

Oil change and spark plugs. Replaced a set of NGK Iridium IX CR8EHIX9 with 83k miles on them with a set of NGK CR7EH-9.

Finally installed my windshield repair gear and cables from Bike-Quip.
Took me all day but I wasn’t in a hurry and was making sure everything was clean and spotless before I applied a light coat of the supplied grease. My crimpers also did some weird crimping so had to break out the Dremel to clean up the ferrules so they would not gouge up my rails.
I also added a blue LED to the left side so I can see the controls.. not that there are many but it just bothered me that it wasn’t lit up. Just bright enough!

Finally got my youngest's 2005 750 Vulcan out of the garage so I have more room out there, moved the bike away from the wall. Of course that meant I had to start the bike; so since it was running, I may as well take it around the block, right? Then I realized I was supposed to take 4 dozen Platy fish out to a pet shop in Oregon City; I mean, the bike was out in the driveway, what was I supposed to do? Took the fish out there, traded for $140.00 in aquatic plants, and headed back home on Highway 99E with 6 bags of plants in the trunk...
Only, our favourite Asian cuisine place is right on the way back... I mean, I was right there, right? It was meant to be...
I moved the plants to the side bags, put the food in the trunk and thought, as it started to rain, on the 1.5 miles home that I could have done this in the car...

A friend has asked me today if I'd ride out to Omaha this July to help repair an observatory he just got for his 18 inch Dobsonian telescope. So, any plans for NEWSTOC are out the window, but hey, someone else is paying for my trip now...

Ordered a firewall grommet on EBay for the left side fairing pocket so I can run a USB cable up to my tank bag from there. I'll come out the back of the pocket, under the tank and bring the cable up between the seat and the tank. Cloth covered cable, of course. If need be I have a few black or transparent (Can you say transparent in Florida or Tennessee?) suction cups usually used in aquariums, to keep the cable from rubbing the tank under buffeting conditions... Did I mention how much I love the new to me magnetic tank bag? Because I do...
My ride yesterday was so much more relaxing since I didn't have to keep pushing my bag back to the center of the tank after every turn...

First reasonable out and about ride of 2023. Did a leisurely 103 mile ride. Realized that the original tires are still on the bike from 2011 (I bought this late last year) and paranoia has kicked in even though the tires dont show wear whatsoever. So planning to replace both in next few weeks. My VTX 1300R will be filling in during the break.
