ST1300 2015
Hello everyone,
Proud owner of a 2015 st1300A paneuropean, in mint condition.
Bought the bike mainly for trips with my wife, and although it's comfortable,
I can't stop thinking of what it would be like to mod the goldwing backrest/case combo instead of its own.
Would anyone have any idea where I could even start looking for something like this?
Thank you,

It's always a matter of personal taste, ...and determination I suppose.
Personally, I think it would destroy the nice lines of the "now, THAT is a motorcycle!" lines and appearance of the 1300. YRMV.
There are backrests available for seats, stock and custom, for the 1300 which are much more style-and-intent-appropriate, but you may have to search and spend. If your wife needs or desires a backrest, a better choice - again, my view - would be to find a tail trunk / top box with a cushion / backrest on it.
GoldWing vs. ST1300... two different bikes. Not the same. So trying to make them the same will ruin both.

BUT... I approve this post.

Buy a goldwing.
I’m actually of this mindset as trying to make one into the other may prove costly and you may not get the effect you want. Is it an armrest thing? My wife really doesn’t ride with me these days as I think she feels a little uneasy without armrests (I guess it gives a sense of security for her). Are there any armrests kits that would work? A Russel Day Long seat that’s more comfortable for the Mrs?

The goldwing owners I know toss their seats in favor of Russell seats.

I'd still bet a 'Wing seat is overall more comfortable longer than a stock ST seat.

That said I agree with The Doctor about the cost and result of trying to fab a Wing seat to an ST. Though it would be easier than trying it with a Wing chair.

Even if a connection could be made would the resultant seat height be acceptable. I think a Russell seat wouldn't be much more than the cost of the fabbing once that time and effort are considered. That's assuming there would be a successful outcome and sweat equity isn't wasted.

For me the stock seat with the front and rear adjusted to level (~31") it's at the limit of my preference. It could be the design of the Wing seat won't allow it to sit as low as the ST seat in any position. You could probably carve the foam. There's more than enough ifs/maybes/buts for my comfort.

That's not to say you're not capable of making it happen and having a good time doing it. I just expect that it would be quite the project.

A RDL might be hard to work out since the OP is from Greece. ;)
I would think that it would take a lot of fabrication to get it done but it would be interesting to see the final result.
Does Europe (and Greece in particular) not have custom seat makers like we have in the US? Are companies like Russel, Lamm, Sargent, etc. only an American development?

For the OP, the first step would be to look closely at, and compare the seat pans of a GW and 1300. Some hard thinking might show converting the GW seat to fit the ST is easy, difficult but possible, impractical. I'm sure a custom bike maker can do anything, but at what cost?
