2025 Honda NT 1100

I appreciate all the wonderful comments on the NT1100. I currently have 45k miles on my 2018 Goldwing Tour DCT. It’s been a great bike. I may take a look at the NT. Just feel, as good as the bike is, it may feel too much like a step down from the Wing.
When you get old enough, you'll either lose your taste for motorcycling, or decide the weight is more than you want to deal with anymore. Believe me, it happens.

In 2017, I took my post-retirement epic ride. The guy with me had a Goldwing. To make time to get down to Utah and the five national parks there, we headed straight down through the Great Basin. Crosswinds were so strong, I thought my helmet would be ripped off my head if I hadn't strapped it on. His bike was a Goldwing. Mine was a 2014 BMW F800GT. 470 lbs wet, before luggage. We got to the motel at the end of each day, and he collapsed in bed, exhausted for at least an hour. I dumped my luggage in my room and headed out to see the local sites.

It's not like the old days where bigger was always better. Sometimes less is more.

IMO another jaded moto journalist spoiled by riding different mfgs high performance bikes in a high performance manner, that doesn't understand riders who can appreciate "just riding"
But he describes exactly how I have fun and full control in tight backs-weeps and snaking roads on my old ST1100...
For just "cruising along" I could as well take my old family combi...

Well, my first NT1100D chain lasted 25,000 miles.... which was about two years and I had the dealer fit a new one.... along with some shiny new sprockets, that however was not inexpensive!

I have a Tutoro chain oiler installed, it works on the vertical movement of the bike alone and can be adjusted for flowrate.

This is my third bike with that brand of oiler and it works just great!

I clean the chain with MucOff bike cleaner in a clamp on cleaner if it get really dirty then rinse and dry then spray and wipe it with ACF50, which keeps corrosion at bay.

I suspect given I have cut back my my IBA rides mileage will not go up quite so fast this next year whereupon I will probably be looking for an NC750X to replace the NT...

The great thing about the Tutoro oiler is it needs no electrical or vacuum connections and when stationary the valve is closed so no drips!

Personally I am way past done with sprays and such and find the chain needs little adjustment over many, many miles!

I rode to Gibraltar via the MotoGP at Catalunya in Aug-Sep '23 and never touched the chain at all during the trip, did an IBA BBG1500 on the way back too, around 4000 miles in all.

Waiting on a new DID VX3 chain myself for my NC700X. This one went 27,xxx miles. When I think about it I wipe chain clean with WD40 on a paper towel then run a teeny tiny bit of 50/50 mix of ATF & 80/90 on the lower run of the chain. Wheel and swing arm stay as clean as my shaft drive bike. Unless I replace the tire the chain doesn’t need adjustment after the first adjustment from new.

I have researched this bike and really like it with all the updated technology and factory cruise control. Lighter weight and decent range. The HP and torque specs are just slightly lower than the ST but the bike is 200 Lbs. lighter. Hinting to the wife I would like to get one LOL.....
Only thing is that chain drive and the need to replace chain and sprockets but in all this is a good value bike IMHO.
