Brake backing pad......clarification?

Getting ready to change out both tires and all brake pads (oem) prior to a huge long distance ride in a couple of months. I've been reading a lot of posts about the brake pad change, but I do need to clarify a question in my mind. As I understand it, the brake backing plates are NOT to be used on the front brakes, but ARE on the rear brakes, correct? Also, just to make sure we are talking about the same thing, it is what I'm pointing to in the pic, correct. I'm very thankful for the collective wisdom on this forum, and I appreciate your feedback so very much. Looking forward to hearing from Mr. Heath and Mr. Igofar and anyone else who can help. 20250607_142612.jpg

All Honda OEM pads, front and back, have that metal backing plate. The rear have an additional white heat insulator between the copper colored metal frame and that backing plate. This insulator is not used on the front pads.

It is very noticeable.
