... Orwell's aeon ...

The most patronized intervening/mandatory ISA constrains the fuel injection to prevent speeding...

Of course will this increase vehicle prices... and, fueled by the fact that the cars are constantly online, such raises the uncomfortable idea that they all can be stopped by a "simple push of a button"...

Remind me not to buy a new vehicle for the rest of my life. my 2021 pickup and my 2017 wrangler have more than enough nanny electronics for my liking.
My sentiments exactly...
My car is a '96 and doesn't feature any onboard data collection (except engine sensor errors stored in the ECU)...

And for bikes: acceleration is/can be an evasive maneuver... governing that will increase risks...

Forget ISA. One local community (suburb) recently put up speed cameras on its streets. Another neighboring burb just passed legislation and will be doing the same. One friend drove through that first at what was the common speed (it was a 7 to 10% down hill where speeds were 55 in a 45mph zone) and was rewarded with a $150 commendation*. Since the communities get a % of the take (the camera companies do all the billing) I see this creeping like invasive garlic mustard or wild grape. With satellites, how long before cameras are found on interstates?

* In the negative sense.

In NJ they made speed and red light cameras illegal. Still old-fashioned cruisers. So if under 10 over you may not be pulled

This will reduce the revenue of some municipalities from tickets.
This is the biggest impediment to implementing speed controls. The cops actually _want_ you to speed. Why else do they hide and pull other sneaky maneuvers?

I was pulled over and chewed out once for giving the top of the helmet tap to warn oncoming bikes of a cop I’d just passed on the shoulder. I should have noticed he’d pulled out behind me a car back.☹️

Is it illegal to warm about the cop traps?
Same as blinking high beams.

Plus I think tapping on a helmet can be dismissed in court. I can be wrong if they all in cahoots but it's a lame reason fir a ticket.

Well, I'm not sure what the answer is, but people seem to have no self control when it comes to speed. They have written a record number of over 100 mph speeding tickets, (to cars and motorcyles), in my state 4 years in a row. The same thing is happening all over this country. Something needs to be done. You can't tell me record numbers of people driving 3000 pound potential weapons at speeds in excess of 100 mph isnt dangerous to an innocent and unsuspecting population.

Last week I was riding my motorcycle on a curvy country road, running 55 mph in a 55 mph zone. A couple on a motorcycle blew past me at a very, very high rate of speed (I would guess over 80 mph) and proceeded to quickly disappear in the curves ahead of me. No warning, no beep beep, just blew past me. I wasnt expecting it, and it startled me. It was in a no passing zone with a double yellow line. It disgusted me, and I'm a motorcyclist. If I had been just an ordinary citizen driver with my family in the car, it would have given me a reason to hate all motorcyclists.

Sometimes, people are their own worst enemy by disregarding laws set in place to protect the general population. If we can't control ourselves? What are the alternatives? For sure random police enforement is ineffective.

In the end, because some of us can't control ourselves, we are the ones forcing the government to even consider such drastic measures. This would not affect those who have a propensity to obey the law, only those who would willingly disregard it.

My small town is currently using speed cameras and there have been many complaints about them.

“In 2025, Louisiana passed a law that bans the use of speed cameras outside of designated school zones, with the exception of Opelousas, which is allowed to continue using them in other areas. This law aims to regulate automated traffic enforcement and address concerns about their fairness and effectiveness.”

“In Louisiana, a sign is required to be posted to inform drivers of the presence of speed cameras. The law mandates that signs must be placed in visible locations to alert motorists that they are entering a zone monitored by speed cameras. This requirement is part of the regulations governing the use of automated traffic enforcement systems to ensure transparency and inform drivers about the potential for enforcement in that area.”

We will probably always mod and reprogram vehicles and speed regulators. We already use custom modules and looms, sensors etc. Thankfully.

When I was a teenager I purchased a new bike which came with a speed limiter. Learning how to remove speed limiters on various makes of motorcycle became a new enjoyable hobby.

Sometimes the speed limit allows moving more, but 10 over is fine. I spoke to a traffic engineer and according to him the limits set bit lower in mind that people will go over it.

This sais that they're not for the revenue but rather for safety. This law must be all over America.
