Decent Starter GPS

Would it be possible for you take a pic of your set up and send it over?

Lyle has deep pockets so he can afford the Zumo :)

Will do. I'll post something here in case anyone else is interested. Then can email you if the photos are large enough. But I gotta warn you there isn't much to see...

Cucho,

Sorry for the delay with this, it slipped my mind. The first photo below shows my iPod connected to the audio-in jack on the Scala Q2 Pro mount. This is about as simple and easy as you can get. (Note - I keep the iPod in my pocket or tank bag and use a remote transmitter to fast forward to new tracks, etc.)

The second photo shows my current set-up. My iPod is connected to 1 of the 3 line-in jacks on the AmpliRider. My GPS is connected to the second of the 3 line-in jacks on the AmpliRdier. Then the line-out on the AmpliRider goes to the jack on the base of the Scala headset.

Clear as mud?

I picked up a Garmin 2555 for under $100. I'll have to buy a waterproof case for it, but those are pretty inexpensive. Oh it has the life-time updates for traffic and maps too! :)

Save the price of the waterproof case and use a sandwich bag with a rubber band. Works great when you need it and gives you a clear view of the GPS.

It's not that I have deep pockets. But that if I use something 90% of the time and all year around, I can justify the cost. The Zumo has since been discontinued but for $500 I thought it was a fair value for what I'm getting. GPS, Bluetooth, sd memory card,MP3 and the ability to load map off of map source or base camp and the most important is it's compatible with Ray's - Ray train mapping system. This GPS does more than just point A-B. I think that a motor sport GPS is the way to go. Yes you are going to pay more for all that they offer.

+ 3 or 4 on any Garmin auto unit + an Aqua Box. Relatively inexpensive, works great, easy to upgrade when you decide you want more functions than your current Garmin provides. Check Costco for seasonal sales on Garmin units. Lifetime maps and traffic are worth having.

Might look at the Peaklife or the Rage at Chinavasion - Waterproof, motorcycle GPS at about the price range you are looking. And they do work very nicely! ;-)
Peaklife at Chinavasion is not available and won't be returning...according to the site.

Does the 920T have Bluetooth to the helmet or an audio out jack?

It has both. Sometimes I just connect it to my Sena SMH10 via bluetooth and other times I use the audio out jack to hook it up to a bluetooth dongle if I want to stream music to my pillon as well (although the new firmware from Sena will allow me to stream to 2 headsets without having to go through the dongle. I just haven't installed it yet).
I create routing for the TT using Tyre. It loads the routes onto TT easier than trying to create them and load them onto Garmin (at least I find).

Raymond - IGO8 and I get it here -

His advertised price is $49.99 and he emails you when new updates come if you want to purchase them. I found the maps to be more up to date than MS Streets & Trips 2013. I've been told you can find the software out on the net for free, but I'd rather buy it to be safe. After a side by side comparison between Fred and the Goldwing Garmin on a long trip, I am very satisfied as to it's accuracy and features. And if you do decide to upgrade the maps, it's pretty difficult - remove the old micro sd card, insert the new micro sd card and turn the GPS on. :D
