Different tread front and rear

I can't add anything to this discussion - except to say that my tyre life plummeted when I went to the Radial BT020s having previously used Bias Exedras.

The Brand new radial T33 tyres do not have a GT spec - Bridgestone claim 47% more tyre life over the T32s, and they have been manufactured as suitable for the lighter and heavier bikes. Same tyre.
I cannot comment on those either - I timed my tyre wear to coincide with when the new T33's were due to be released - Mid Jan 2025. A month later they still were not available, so I'm back to a new set of T32s. My rears wear slightly faster than my fronts.

My first 1100 - I went on a 2 day course with a class 1 police instructor - brilliant couple of days. He raced on tracks in his spare time. Standard ST1100 non ABS with Exedras fitted.
At the end, he wanted to put me on the back so that I knew what the bike could do. He was about the same size and weight as me (Big, heavy) and he rode it as if he was in a police pursuit.
I wasn't riding, but on the back the bias tyres were easily up to the job. I, on the other hand, wasn't. Having come to the ST1100 from a 650 bike and sidecar - 20 years previously - my riding style was in comparison, a bit - well, how shall we say ? - upright. Going round bends with my ear scraping the tarmac (is how it felt) was a new experience. Yes, OK. It can do more than I can - which is better than the other way round.

I was a bit miffed at the last MOT I got two notices - both tyres close to the legal limit. Yes, I know that they are down to 1.5mm of tread before they reached the wear bars. They have only 4.5mm when new !

I put a T33 rear onto my the rear of my VFR800 yesterday; I have had a bit of experience with tyre fitting over the years but this tyre fought me like no other. The carcass is stiff and the beads did not want to stay in the well, so I ended up using a couple of g-clamps to keep the near side in place, but it still nearly had me admitting defeat. Certainly seems like a different construction to the T32 which I removed and which did not put up too much of a fight by comparison. After the T33 I might go back to easy-fit Michelins!

Sometimes it's better to admit that some tyres are just painful to work with.....

I have stopped fitting my own now as it is just too much like hard work as I used spoon type levers ad not a machine, but the worst job has always been taking the first set off the bike when they were NOT Michelin....

Besides I always get better mileage and performance from Michelin and these days they are often not the most expensive!

My worst experience was always removing Bridgestone because they are so stiff!
