Fender/fairing/body plastic clips

Andy Davis

I bought a sort of beat up ST1300. In the process of taking off all the plastic, I replaced a bunch (most) of the body plastic clips like the attached photo. There are about three or four slightly different types on the ST1300. I feel stupid running down to the Honda dealership to buy a few at a time (at $2 or more each). Is there an aftermarket box of an assortment of these things that people have bought or found useful for these bikes?

Yes. Put the part number into ebay. You will find that you can buy 50 at a time from some suppliers.

The two types are

90657-MB0-003. which has a shorter dumpy head, ss in your photo.

91549 -NW0-790ZA - which has a longer push button head

Both will fit the same size hole. In some cases the hole in the fairing being fastened is recessed, so the longer head of the push pin is desirable. The one with the shorter head fits and works perfectly well, it can be just a tad harder to remove from a recessed hole. It may need a screwdriver blade or long nosed pliers to raise the push pin to remove it. Some of the holes in the inner fairing and the front lower grill are recessed. At the time I bought my pack of 50 shorter ones, no one was making the longer ones, but they do now.

This may help you to identify the screw and push pin fittings. Especially the section at the end where they are all photographed, described and shown with the part number. (for a 2009 uk model - there are a few minor differences between years)

Here is a link to one such ebay supplier. You need to check where they come from before using this link though.

I have found them to be very good. I get the impression that they last longer than the originals, but I wouldn't know for certain. If one breaks, I toss it in the bin and substitute a new one. It is nice to have enough to not have to feel precious about them.

Maybe not available in your area, but the auto parts stores in our area ... they carry "assortment packs" of clips

Rivets (B3-104), (B3-112),

ah, awesome! Thanks for the instant help. (I will die leaving an assortment packs of O-rings, circlips, electrical connectors behind, where only 5% of the pack has been used)
