I was very fortunate to find a new Migsel dash mount about 3 years ago, and it's ideal for mounting the GPS, at least to MY preferences. (As you have seen in earlier posts, there are similar mounts and workarounds for this dash setup.) I want it front and center, but not too high and blocking my view of what's ahead, so this is PERFECT placement. I can glance down without really changing my line of sight, it's protected from weather by the windscreen, and doesn't add to handlebar clutter. The Migsel (and I assume most of the others that are similar) bolts to two threaded nuts beneath the dash, so it is absolutely solid for a GPS, camera, phone, radar detector or whatever, as long as all three are devices of this size.
Here's an early picture of my bike at work, I now use the Zumo XT wired into the Quartet Harness.
(For some reason, the different 1" RAM balls I've purchased have a different thread / pitch than the one in the center holding my Garmin, than the extra holes to the left and right.)
