Help With Travel Restrictions In Various States

So how is to 'motel' in Massachusetts if you are from out of state?
The last time I was there last year you had to be 'essential' and sign an affidavit to that effect to get in a motel room.
Honestly, im not sure. Here in boston masks are serious busmess. Ive had a bunch of friends motel here over the past year and, other than rhe mask thing, its pretty cool. No complaints or invasiveness. I know rhey ask out of staters to quoanteen for a week but i dont see that being enforced.

I was in New Mexico last September and stayed at the Roswell Inn. Aside from the near obligatory "Please wear a mask" signs, I had no issues of any kind. I even visited several businesses while there.

At the present time Illinois has no travel restriction. But eating places are open but not at full capacity. Masks are still required everywhere. If your trip is not far from the Missouri boarder I'd stay overnight in Missouri. Less restrictions and cheaper gasoline prices.

I've got no problem wearing a mask where it is required (thankfully not while I'm on two wheels) and I'm good with keeping social distance - especially while on my ST1100s. ;) On my last trip out, my motorcycle or my motel bed were my usual 'dining table' - and I'm fine with that. What I don't like to encounter is what I did last year when I was in Massachusetts with a pre-booked motel room. The township had passed a recent ordinance (after my reservation was booked) that stated you could not stay at the motel unless you were 'essential' - no notice from the chain or the motel in advance - and I had ridden 780+ miles that day. Fortunately, my company is on the 'essential' list of the Federal Government and I had a letter in my pocket stating that. So I signed an affidavit and got my room. It sounds as if things have 'lightened' up a bit since then so I should be fine. There will be surprises and adventures, but then life without them would be a rut - which is a grave with the ends kicked out.

The one issue we ran into during our Utah Arizona trip last summer was eating and restrooms in Arizona. Many restraunts are drive through only which really sucks when you're on a bike. A couple of times we ended up walking through the drive ups, which seemed a little weird. Then of course you couldn't use their restrooms either as you can't do inside. Some convience stores would only allow a few people in the stores at a time and would actually take our temperature before allowing us in. Their restrooms were usually closed as were many of the rest areas. Thankfully, there's usually a boys bush handy on most back roads.

I ran into the same thing on my trip out there and that's the sort of stuff you just have to deal with. The good part is that the traffic and crowds are lot 'thinner'.

Well, this boston masshole sends his deepest apologies. While we love misdirecting tourists on the subway and fully expecting them to spend ALL of their money here, i find that behavior totally out of line! Shame on out families!

we were the third state really, behind new york and california, to have to learn how to deal w this. We lost over 8000 people in two months. We certainly were poorly educated about this new disease and tried many things to get it right. There were many mistakes while we learned. But we have a good gov and had a good mayor, and hope your next visit here is nicer.

Although, UP, it's not as frustrating as you not being notified of the hotel restrictions affecting your reservations in MA, I have found that many hotels continue to advertise "free breakfast" - when "because of Covid" - no breakfast is provided. I have even been told by customer service folks at Whyndam Hotels that they are unable to maintain the online reservation system to remove the meal promise from the list of amenities. I found that I have to place a call to each hotel to verify if any food is to be provided.

Ray - Well, I seldom go for their 'free' breakfast as I really like lots of pork products and fried hen aigs ...
That's the way it was on my trip out west last year so that's not a surprise.
At least at the Der Dutchman in May we should be able to get our cholesterol up where it can be easily measured ...;)

Massachusetts just announced today that if you've had the vaccine, and it's been over 14 days, there are no testing or quarantine restrictions

Steve - Thank you very much. I appreciate it as due to my previous experience, Massachusetts was one state I was really concerned about.

Well, we seem to be coming
Out of it a bit. All of the bad things are
Decreasing. Tourism is coming back and everyone is still wearing masks. It feels like boston is going to get a taste of normalcy this summer. We lost a bunch of businesses here and i wonder what newbury street is going to b like this year.

You're welcome.
They said that you'd need to have your vaccine card with you.

Steve

Ive not heard about a vaccine card and i live in the city.

I heard it on the news.
They give you a card to show that you've been vaccinated.
When I got my first shot, they issued me one, and endorsed it, showing my first shot.
They'll endorse it again at my second.

I ASS-U-MEd that all states operate similarly

There's a business opportunity. Fake vaccine cards, just like fake ID's for the under 21 crowd. Since healthy under 21's will be the last to get vaccinated, I wouldn't be surprised if fake vaccine cards don't start showing up.

lieve thats a federal thing that the airlines are involved in. Or, your state is looking ahead. I got my first shot last week and all i left with was a band aid.

I've traveled from California, to Nevada, Utah, Colorado and back again with nothing unusual. California, Colorado and Nevada were more strict on the mask issue and motels there closed their breakfast rooms (sometimes they provided a "sack" breakfast), exercise rooms and swimming pools. Utah had everything pretty much seeming to be normal. There were mask recommendations but their use was maybe 50/50. One place we went for breakfast had a notice on their door that their staff weren't wearing masks and to enter at your own risk! California would have initiated a SWAT raid, closed them up and hauled everyone off too prison for that! California was also the only state forcing us to eat outside at restaurants. No issues at border crossings, even entering California, they waved us right through.
