New guy from Oslo with a great interest in Pan European and perhaps most of all ST1100... Not new to motorcycles, have a long life on motorcycles behind me and have ridden countless bikes from the 70s to newer bikes from today. Considering buying an ST1100

97 or newer. I would be leery of anything older.

Welcome from Southern Maryland (SoMD)! I've visited Oslo twice and it is a wonderful city. If things get too bad over here I might have to "invade" Oslo for retirement.

I started with a 1995 bought new, now own a 2000. I'm sure there are newer and nicer bikes, but mine is a cheap value pleasure. Yes, @STooRay plies us with beautiful photos from his rides.

1997 and newer… With or without ABS... I personally think without for the easiest and cheapest future maintenance but for resale later maybe with ABS …

With ABS, not because of the ABS but because they have better brakes ie. 3 piston calipers.
That said, the ABS / TCS has saved my ride on occasion.

Most people here have noted that I have purchased a -99 ST1100 ABS-II Pan European which I am working on with a backlog of service along with a review for full condition status. Have dismantled the top box, trailer hitch and high windscreen, original windscreen to be fitted along with new tyres. Can't wait to roll out of the garage with new polish and new tires
