Oil change kit

I don't think you can go wrong with Honda GN4 oil and a genuine Honda filter no matter where you buy it. You can also buy GN4 on Amazon by the gallon and save a little money.
As far as oil filters go there are many different brands available which can be had for less than the Honda filter. Search oil filters on this site and you may find a list of available filters.

Here is a list posted by Slydynbye last year of some of his preferred filters.

Here's my list gathered across the years
About 2.5 inches long.
Purolator Pure One PL14612, about $6.
Mobil M1-108, about $12.
Bosch 3300, about $6.
Napa Gold 1538 oil filter or is it 1358 as @St-Gerard says?


About 3.25 inches long.
Purolator Boss PBL14610
Purolator Pure One PL14610, about $6.
Mobil 1 M1-110, about $10. .
Bosch 3323, about $6. .
WalMart SuperTech ST7317,
 
:redface: The manual states that oil change intervals are 1K, 12K, 16K, 24K?????

First, is that accurate!??! Second, I'd bet you all do it more often than that? Third, what is the interval after that? Forth, can someone help me get up off the floor?

Thank you! Do any of those have the 17mm end for easy removal? The K/N does.

Honda recommends every 12,800 KM / 8,000 miles or every 12 months, whichever comes first, when using regular mineral oil. I use synthetic oil and rarely change it before this. If I am on an extended trip I have no concerns about exceeding this.

Many people change their engine oil prematurely, and to no benefit in my opinion. This is a fuel injected engine. It does not burn dirty like older carbureted engines, and does not need oil changes as frequently as older carbureted engines.

95% of my daily ride is about 90 miles. Interstate at 70-75mph.

So not much sitting in the sun at a stop light or in a traffic jam boiling away. :)

Yes Napa Gold 1358 , the other number doesn't thread on I would think it is SAE thread.
