I'm sure some of you more seasoned riders remember Paregoric. I'm pretty sure it was sold over the counter until 1970 or so. It contained opium, and our Mom treated everything from coughs to diarrhea and bicycle crashes with it. Apparently it can still be had with one of those pesky prescriptions.

We also survived baseball without helmets, drinking from a garden hose, and old wooden cribs...
