Helmets Open face helmet Harley style on St?

Something like this, I'd imagine.

Well, yes. They likely don't see us at all but my point was while we judge the relative risk of open face helmets from the seat of a motorcycle the cager world thinks any motorcyclist is a donor cyclist.

I would wear a 3/4 helmet most of the time when riding. I preferred the open feeling. I used the 3/4 because I had a Bluetooth device in the helmet and microphone extending out from the side.

But you can also have a bluetooth device and a microphone in a FF or even a modular. It only takes a little engineering.

I think the Capt meant he would probably use a half helmet if he didn't want to have the Bluetooth. But since he wants a headset he has to have something to mount to, keeping the minimal helmet.

That's about right. Having the screen and the full face helmet made the riding experience feel a little "distant". That's my take on the thing.

YMMV

I agree that the weight of the helmet can get tiring and hot, but I always have the option of taking the car or truck with A/C. It's risky just getting on the road, on/in anything. I will continue to wear my modular. I tried riding without my jacket and felt so vulnerable, I pulled over and put it back on. How's that for wuss?

If you could look at the condition my full face HJC is after getting hit from behind by an uncaring cager and sliding over 150 feet, you wouldn't even consider one of those helmets! Just sayin.

+1 here!

One June bug over 50mph can change your mind about a 3/4 helmet.

Yeah, but you also rode in sandals! :D:eek::D

But I'm in the camp that says we all take risk at the level we are comfortable with. Ride however you are comfortable and I will still wave when I see you, no matter what you are wearing or what you are riding.

O.... M.... G...!!!

Someone please tell me this is a joke/Zebco.... please!

I wear the half helmet with a good pair of impact glasses. Carry a 3/4 helmet with a face shield in the bags for rainy days. Just enjoy the freedom the 1/2 helmet offers. I accept the risks involved with the decision. I do recieve the occasional large bug or small road debris shots, and several bee stings in the ear that somehow find their way into the narrow gap in the ear flap. The adjustable windshield allows us to set the height where 99.9% of bugs etc. hit the helmet just above the visor. I respect all others opinions and choises these are mine.

I guess you guys ride in cooler climates. In Texas, when it gets hot, I found the visor down is actually cooler. Somewhere around 98? the wind goes from cooling to heating...it's like a blow dryer in your face. Get up to 102?+ and the wind cooks your face. The visor keeps the scorching wind away. Oddly though, mid 90's temps does seem to cool, do I usually put the visor up.

Full face only for me. The thought of my face and the ground making contact at any speed kinda makes my tummy fell queasy.....

Like others said....you make the decision based on risk levels one is willing to take.
