I have a NoMar Tire Changer. I got it for myself, but find that I change a lot of friends' tires too. I don't charge them anything and teach them to do it on their own (so I don't have to forever be the tire man). I ask them the put a few bucks (or bring me a beer) in the kitty for shop supplies (valve stems, weights, etc.), and they are happy to oblige. I never calculated, but I think it "paid" for itself in just over a year.

FWIW, No Mar is owned and operated by motorcyclists and I've been using them for over well over a decade. I believe they are having a Memorial Day Sale right now at a substantial savings. Personally, I've never used a better and safer changer, and I've used a lot of different ones over the years. Professional grade at prosumer pricing which is even better for the holidays.

I use a standard static wheel balancer stand

The 'trial and error procedure' requires little patience...
Determine heavy point of wheel, temporarily (i.g. masking tape) place a balance weight on the opposite side, test again, alter weight if required, etc...

Takes about as much time as watching this video

On just my 2nd coffee this morning, i started clicking Like back on page 1, all the while thinking to myself, "But I thought Martin ALREADY had a tire changer!"
Well, Duh.
This thread is nearly 5 years old.
I've used friends' NoMar changes through the years, and love 'em.
Once in a while I'll swap tires the old- fashioned way by hand on my dual sport bikes, knowing I'll likely get a flat somewhere miles away from a road and towing service. Got to stay familiar with the tools and the process, for that eventuality.
Anyway... congratulations again, Martin, for working smarter not harder!
Why do you have to be so far away...?
It's unlikely I could save any money by bringing my bikes to your garage.

Depending on how anal a person is, all that tape that he used is more than enough to throw the balance off. I balance my own wheels and was quite surprised to find that just one very thin latex glove (the cheap thin ones, not the good surgical grade ones) dropped on to the tire was enough to change the balance and cause the wheel to rotate. I doubt that that glove weighs any more than the tape.

I'll take a abba stand/balancer over a Rabaconda any day. I stay away from Rabaconda after noticing that they copy NoMar kits, and I heard from an industry source that they said they want to put an American company out of business with their products.

Not long after moving here to Cedar City, Chris came across a guy selling a No-Mar for very little. I jumped on it and it's great having it! My biggest issue with it is that I don't have it mounted securely!



I have tires to change on the AZ05 and on the 2012

The has to be before the Montana ride in August. So I'll probably do it once I get back, in a couple of weeks.

Old School! I have the version after yours. Liked it so much I shot a calendar for them. Not sure if I can post it here though The latest Pro model has a trailer hitch mounting option.

Yeah, Byron used his No-Mar hitch mounted for years. Then when he moved to Kentucky, I bought one of the lighter models from Mike, one of the members here on the forum. Then when my wife came across this one, and for as cheap as he sold it to me, I couldn't resist!

And since I never could master "static balancing", I started using beads for balancing. I've had pretty good luck with them.
