Good morning everyone

There's fresh hot French roast in the pot, waiting for you. Please help yourselves and enjoy it.

It's 45°F, clear, and no longer windy in Rockville after yesterday's very turbulent afternoon and evening. We'll have mostly sunny skies and a high of 56 or so. Not awful (a few degrees lower than the historical average for the date but well within the range), especially since the feels-like temperature will be a few degrees above actual. There is, however, a frost advisory set for the period of 0200 to 0900 tomorrow morning, so we're not quite in full @Sadlsor comfort territory just yet.

The main event for us today is a dolorous one: attend the funeral, memorial, and burial of a longtime friend who passed away a few days ago after suffering a massive stroke followed by a blood clot in his brain. He was a year younger than me (62) and always very active. His widow has been dealing with Parkinson's for close to two decades; her life will be even more challenging with this terrible loss.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them. Do it today, NOW, because tomorrow may be too late.
 
Thank you Keith. Lots of clouds and 54°, going to stay cloudy and may see 65°. Womantriker had the staples on her knee pulled yesterday and our surgeon flexed her leg a couple of times and told her to come back in 4 weeks. He wasn't happy that the home PT guy only showed up once in the last 2 weeks. Ciao.

Sorta nippy, at 42, but should warm to 68, under partly cloudy skies.

Today is another vet visit to discuss the results of Teddy’s allergy tests. He’s had reoccurring skin problems for over a year, that is cured by steroid shots, but the vet says it’s time to find the reason, instead of more medication.

In the morning I observed my GF momentarily frozen in the hallway, holding the riding jacket on its hanger in a Shakespearean pose, seemingly thinking

"... to insulate or not to insulate ..."

must have been the latter, as I'd found her thermal liner thrown across the bed afterwards... ;)

And a TerraMaster product manager responded to my post about the crapped out NAS on their forum:

Since the storage format required by the system used in the new models differs from that of the old drives, the old drives cannot be used directly.
You may purchase an additional HDD/SSD when buying a new model for installing TOS6.
When installing TOS6, please select only the new HDD/SSD as the installation target drive.

Of course, why make it simple when it can be done complicated... and more expensive while at it... :cautious:

Currently also eyeballing a UPS, hopefully protecting those devices (DSL modem, FW router and NAS) in the future...
But I'm already peeved about the efforts of the setup... install TOS + apps, configure IP addy and security, establish designated network drive/folders,... pfffff... :(
And then hope the other devices will recognize it... PCs, phone, TV, BD-player...
The network drive is easy, their DNLA media-server is always an enigma though...

Office, some offers out... routine...

I have gym today so that eats up the morning. high temp of 90 so the afternoon just might be inside.

It's sunny and 39 in MA this morning, rising to 47 with wind and gusts today.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend, as well.

Yesterday, as I was outside getting ready for my gym visit, I met with the owner of the house next door. He was here from upstate NY, because his nephew, who was living in the house, had passed away in his sleep recently. Brenda and I had no idea. Nephew and I would wave hello when we were both outside, and we'd occasionally talk, if he was outside during one of my dog walks or something. His uncle said he had multiple medical issues, but I was only aware of a recurring foot problem. Stephen was in his late 30's.

I did make it to the gym, and shopped for pet food. They didn't have what I was looking for, so I ordered it from Amazon while sitting in their parking lot.

I also made a trip to Home Depot, but didn't find what I was looking for at that store. The one in Auburn does, though, and I'll make a trip there, today.

That is sad, that his widow has been left without his support!
Hopefully her family, if she has any, can step in!

30/41F, chilly with flurries & a rather brisk NNW blow to keep that collar in place!

I found a deal on wood for my crib project, hauled it all home yesterday.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, kind sir. I'm sorry to learn about your friend, Keith, and about your neighbour who left far too soon, Steve. Condolences to all..

We had a fierce wind howling all night and it's still blowing out there, though it's calmed down a teensy bit. It's overcast and much colder today: 1°C/34°F with a feels-like of -5°C/23°F now, and a high of 4°C/39°F with a windchill of -1°C/30°F later. There will be rain and then mixed rain/snow this afternoon.

I'd best get a move on, as this is going to be a very busy Wednesday. Everyone have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Thanks for the coffee Keith. Many of us at our age are too familiar with losing friends in an untimely manner. I'm sorry for your loss. My best man and riding partner passed in this early 50s, thanks (NOT!) to pancreatic cancer.

I'm now take with getting an older push mower operational again. We can't seem to get a lawn care crew to show up regularly, fir less than hundreds of $ per month... and the property is snake than my yard, by far. It's a business, though, so i suppose that justifies 3x the price. Interestingly, the mower is the identical Toro model to mine! But it was kept in a she so it's in much better shape than the one here at my house.

It's still cool here, clear and sunny but highs only in the middle 70s.

Speaking of which... I was minding my own business, and all of a sudden 1975 was 50 years ago. WTH!?!?

Tolstoy said, "The biggest surprise in a man's life is old age." I believe it.

Don't let the old man in, keep riding but do so, smartly. All the best to all of y'all today.
 
Good morning, Thanks for the coffee Keith and Dave for the comics. Sorry To hear about friends being absent, to early. A Successful life in my opinion is too many friends and not enough time for all of them. Still hurts when they leave early.
Okay Weather 42 F high 61 F Sunny,4 mph wind,87% humidity going to be a beautiful day, hopefully my stomach gets over what ever has been bothering me. Taking Wife to a eye doctor appointment, she can't drive with dilated eye balls, which may happen. Cleaned and lubed the chain on my bicycle and few ergonomics to make it a bit more comfortable, so a little ride might happen as well. Y'all's have a good day, G
 
A late G'mornin' to y'all from my office (read cubiclet). Quick thanks to Keith for the coffee and condolences. I've already had several friends my age (a relative young buck to y'all I suppose, at 53) pass away suddenly, and it really affects me knowing it could happen at any time. But Ill climb out of that dark hole now...

40F/4.5C when I left the house. Traffic was light due to spring break. Shoulda rode...Dangit. Welp back to pushing keyboards and mice. Take care y'all!

Keith I am really sorry to hear about your friend and likewise Steve, you neighbour. Both far too young.

Working from home again today so I can assist with the house primping in advance of my in-laws arrival in between meetings, of which there seems to be a plethora of today. Not sure what the correct term is for a group of meetings....a mishmash....a purgatory....a crisis....an embolism....an embolism of meetings, I think that's the best followed closely by a purgatory of meetings. Thoughts?

Morning Keith & All from an overcast Southern Utah!

Currently it is 59F, up from 41F and heading for 70F. No breeze yet, but we know it won't stay that way with a couple of storms coming in. By Friday night, they are calling for temps down to 26F and Thursday & Saturday are also under Freezing. So I'll have to disconnect the hoses. They are calling for rain/snow between now and Saturday. We'll see. The later winds will be out of the SW @ 16 to 27mph.

I got the rest of the plants, from Home Depot, in the ground. Today, in between rain drops, I hope to get some ground cloth and rocks down, so the mud doesn't flow down with the rain water.

Eggs, bacon, toast and OJ to start the morning. Pepsi(s) come later.

About 4 major autocorrect FAILS in my post this morning, reminding me to proofread all my wisdom (or wisecracks?) before hitting Post Reply.
On my phone, I always use the Swipe feature, rather than do the lightning thumb technique, or pressing each letter. So I just drag a finger over the letters on the tiny keyboard. Technology is trying to make me look more like an idiot, than I already am.
I don't need that...
