What did you do with your ST1100/ST1300 today?

Did some maintenance today and mounted the licence plate. Bleed Clutch fluid, changed oil and filter, gear oil, air filter, and spark plugs. By the looks of things, old parts could be the original. PO said bike was dealer maintained.... SMH. Took bike out for a easy 16 mile ride around the neighborhood to get a feel for it. Topped it off with some 93 while I was out as well. Things I have noticed
1. There is a rubbing sound coming from the rear wheel. Sounds like when the wheel makes a full revolution. Not sure if it is brake or rotor related but I don't notice anything unusual while braking. Brake pads looks like they have a lot of meat on them.
2. The fairing when up does a nice job with the wind not so much when down but that was the same as my previous ST1100
3. Lots of heat to keep my lower legs/foot warm, is that normal? Didn't notice it when I had the ST1100
4. I enjoyed the first 16 smiles from ear to ear.

Let us know how you like it after a bit of time. I'm looking at ordering one from Motorcycle Dave (got 3 20Ss from him) for a second mount point.

The phone cradle looks pretty deep like you could stack 2 or 3 phones in there. Is that a matter of camera perspective?

I haven't ridden with it yet, we have a tropical storm that's going to give us a visit tomorrow with lots of rain and high winds, so it will be a few days before I get a chance to ride, but it holds my iPhone XR with protective case solidly. Any phone larger than the XR with a case on it won't fit. I will post again after I get some miles on it.

Took the day off and enjoyed one of my favorite twisty roads in Minnesota... Hwy 1, from Ely to the shores of Lake Superior. All in all it was about 250 miles and the temps were between 55 and 74. What a great day!

That *is* an awesome stretch of road! Almost hit a moose coming around a corner on that road a number of years back...

74 degrees November day, I went for another 30 miles ride around town running some errands but that was before I spoke to Igofar. After a few troubleshooting, His diagnosis of that rubbing noise coming from the rear wheel is a stuck SMC and aftermarket EBC rear brake pads. He also said, 'park it for now" Larry had predicted that it will need to be replaced even before I spoke to him since the bike was sitting for almost a year when I picked it up a few weeks ago. Anyway, I got the links/parts to get and hope I can get it done before the winter weather really rolls in. To be continued......

Busy few days.
Washed and waxed the bike.
Installed a set of Oxford grips (And managed to get Superglue on the tank! )
Went for a 400km loop yesterday in the fall colors with a buddy yesterday.
The bike's growing on me. T30's don't like tar strips while heeled over at speed

Did you get just regular Oxford grips or the Heated ones? I find the stock grips to be hard and uncomfortable.

Got a call on the from a member in Mesa Arizona that was having brake issues....
Jumped on my 07 ST1300 and Rode 300 miles round trip, did a complete brake and clutch system flush & bleed, got everything sorted out nicely, then got to ride home at 5 mph for about 25 miles on a single lane, shut down highway, due to construction work.
Finally made it home a little after midnight.
My left forearm now looks like Popeye from pumping the clutch for so long
Successful day, met another forum member, rescued another ST, and spent several hours on mine

I find the stock grips to be hard and uncomfortable.

I've never been happy with stock Honda grips for the same reason. They were always too small in diameter too. And always the first mod I made when getting a new bike.

Everybody has their favorite set. I really like the BMW Sport (?) grips with foam grip covers. I use Grab-On grip covers but they're all pretty much the same.

Oxfords or similar - heated or not - probably wouldn't be much more comfortable except for a slightly larger diameter. Grip Puppies is a popular grip cover.

I don't know if you're looking for an alternative to factory but there are a lot of options.

Started a heated grip install with the quartet harness. Turns outs it’s super easy if you have access to all the experience on this site... another hour (maybe) to swap the grips and it’ll be done.

Edit - finished it up with a little 3D printer mount for the voltmeter. It’s suspect to break when it gets hit by the clumsy rider, but it’ll do for now.

Had a helper test my work. She approved.

I did a bit of plastic welding

Thanks for the motivation. Fixed up the mirror shield the PO cracked badly. There was a bunch of hot glue and some kind of flexible, caulk-like adhesive in there. It worked, but wasn’t great.

I used a soldering iron, a zip tie as added plastic material, and a fan to keep the fumes out of my nose holes. Super simple. Seems very sturdy.

My daughter was otherwise engaged...

Thanks to Igofar, I replaced all 3 set of brake pads, new SMC and bled all brake lines in proper sequence. Will do a follow up ride tomorrow.

Starting on detailing the ST13.
Pulled the front wheel and fender off. Cleaned them to my OCD level.
Next comes the forks and backwards from there through the bike.

Yeah, those wheels do look good, curious as to your cleaning method. Did you have any stains in the wheel paint, or just surface grime?
