Since I restored old bikes since jr high, I've been in the habit of buying up 'wear' parts prior to beginning a rebuild simply because of this....they frequently vanish from the planet just before you need one, plus having a part in the garage doesn't slow down a rebuild. Usually it's the same parts regardless of model or year. While rounding up parts I found an alternator from a low mile wreck....no scratches, nicks or evidence of leaking. Needless to mention this was before I joined this group and realized they were relatively rare. Once I did, I could find none at the few remaining bike scrap yards....don't think there are any left now, except under newer subdivisions. Haven't even seen a suspicious one on Ebay for quite a while now.
Just consider this a tip should you buy an 'old' bike you may fall in love with. Round 'em up while you can.....and....there are few like FZ750 out there.
