Two new nt1100's just popped up for sale in San Diego.

Mine was on the floor from the afternoon before. I arrived just after opening this morning and a previous inquirer had already been contacted.
There Was a $1500 mark up. I stuck to my guns and got it otd for $15k, $13 cash and $2 for my trade - a 2006 Vstrom 650! The business owner had to ok the deal. Imagine my surprise when he did. I feel very fortunate. Love the bike.

This dealer nixed the Mark Up because the buyer was a repeat customer. He offered me the same deal on the next one....joking I'd be a repeat customer by then, my second time in his shop!

I am puzzled by the seat height, that is reported to be relatively high. But I was able to easily flat foot it with thin sandals on. Wondering if there is a lowered seat option available that might have been installed?

Nice exhaust note as well.

I can flatfoot too with a 30” inseam. The front of the seat is narrow.
Low note and grunt to match. Off the line I can feel the lift limiting kick in right away.

I think it is a great bike, but it is just Honda's take on the niche Yamaha meets with the Tracer models, Kawasaki & Suzuki with their 1000cc models and BMW with their F900XR.
Be that as it may if the find a niche and fill it business model works then there'll be some happy Honda riders. Not that it's a lot of data points but there are some potential riders here already.

I'm not keen on its looks but if it were more retro-UJM looking I'd be at least checking it out. That and if it were shaft drive I'd be on it. But it is what it is and I hope it sells well. But Honda has a lot of bikes that sold for one to two or three years. Maybe less.

As you may tell from the image in my posts, I own a NT1100D...

It will be three years old this year and currently has just over 27,000 miles on the clock from new, all mine..... mostly doe in the first two years. I have a Tutoro chain oiler on the bike....

It is what it is, I would have preferred a manual, but coudn't get one.

The chain is not an issue, I had the dealer replace the first at 25,000, it was "fine" at the 24K service but started clicking during an IBA ride just 1K later!

Whilst it has all the performance I will ever need and can indeed lift up it's skirt and go when required, I prefer to ride it in a more gentlemanly manner, in much the same way as I ride all my bikes. That of course does not take away from the 100bhp grunt it has.

It's not an ST1100 but it is the weight of a pillion passenger lighter!

If you are going to buy one, don't get the Honda luggage... it will break on the first tipover and is stupidly expensive to replace.

I have Hepco & Becker rails and panniers on mine now, I bought the rails new and have two sets of cases, 33ltr Junior and a set of Gobi adventure style for longer tours.

The Honda cases cost nearly as much for ONE replacement as I paid for two sets of used H&B panniers on ebay.

Economy is, or can be, very good if treated respectfully, but can be knocked right back if there is a strong headwind as with most bikes.

Comfort.... well let's just say that I have the Voyage pack fitted, top box, aux lights, comfort seat and comfort pillion footpegs... and I have to say that Honda's idea of comfort these days is somewhat wide of the mark.... of course it could just be my generous butt that results in the loss of comfort after 3-4 hours or more.
I have tried an Air Hawk, gel pad and sheepskin, butt really, it needs a better seat for me.

Handling is okay for me, can feel a bit skittish if pushed, but there are too many variables for me to say it is anything other than adequate for my needs.

I run Michelin on it, Road 5's currently but will probably be 6's next change, mileage for me is very good on them. The OEM Dunflops were okay but started to get a but frisky in the wet before they were runout so were replaced. I use Dynabeads for balancing.

There have been a few issues, the dealer tech broke the spark plug caps at the 16K service, nobody will convince me they were broken when it went in..... they replaced them under warranty.
The TFT screen had condensation and locking up issues and after 7 months of complaining and submitting pictures of the bike doing 60mph in my driveway whilst stationary, they relented and changed it. If I had needed to pay for it the cost would have bought me a nice used older bike at around £2600..... shocked I was...... (Yoda voice)....

It is the first Honda I ever had that I purchased a two year extended warranty on......

Servicing costs over here are crazy expensive, my S90 Volvo costs less to maintain than my bike.

So, the 2025 bike is, I hear, a lot better, more electrickery and more money, so when I do change my bike will have been further devalued by Honda's pricing policies, so it will likely be an NC750X as a replacement!

I will say that this is the first Honda I haven't had to replace the screen on as the OEM screen is adequate for my needs.

A good bike which should be seen more as a grown up NT700V rather than an ST replacement. Will not suit everyone, especially if you are a more robust sized individual, but you pays your money and you takes your choice/chance!

My 2C. (2p) worth!

It looks like even if you were to buy the Honda's, you'd still have to gut the handrails to install a Honda luggage rack?

Thanks for your review.

Post some pix if you have the time.

If anybody is still looking, Fay Myers Motorcycle world https://www.faymyers.com/ has one. Not on the sales
floor yet, as it was still in their assembly shop, and as of 0900 this morning not spoken for. I have a deal going with another dealer so this one is up for grabs. I put eye on it this morning. Beautiful Blue. If you call ask for Chris and mention my name.

One thing I should perhaps mention about the cruise control is, when at speed, say 70mph, if you disengage by braking and slow down to say 40mph, DO NOT press resume.....

I did this once, stupidly, and the bike, being a DCT down shifted twice, having already changed down at least once whilst slowing, then appears to have opened the tap to the stop...... best wheelie I ever did!

So I would recommend accelerating back up to speed THEN tap resume...... this way your underwear will still be clean when you get to your destination......

I thought with all the electrickery involved it would not do such a thing..... a manual of course would need more human input to achieve such spectacular results!

I stopped in a local dealership today and they had just placed one on the showroom floor. I swung a leg over. I believe it would be comfortable for me to ride and I was surprised I could touch ground about like I do on my RT. It’s priced at $11,999. I’ve often said in years past that I look forward to Honda building a 1000 cc NC700X and now that it’s here @ 1100 cc I am sitting content with my current stable.

I had the same experience with my FZ-1... My son and I were both riding FZ-1s and said if Honda would build an upright bike with the R-1 cross plane motor we'd buy one, but they brought out FZ -10 in 2016 and I was happy with my ST 1300 and CB 1100 so I passed, but my son bought one, still has it and loves it but with working from home and 3 kids in sports he doesn't get to ride it much.

When I decided to downsize from my FJR in 2021 I would have jumped on an NT 1100 in a heartbeat, but Honda chose not to bring them here and I bought the NC 750X. Now in 2025 I'm happy with my NC 750X and still in love with my CB 1100, so I don't think I'll get an NT, but I will sit on one and test ride one if I get the chance and make a final decision then. It's encouraging to hear those of us with a smaller stature may still be able to reach the ground.

I assumed at a soon to be 75 yo I was done buying bikes.

Never assume. Never say never. I am having a serious debate with myself on which bike to let go for the replacement NT1100. Will I let go of my 62k mile 11 year old 2014 FJR. Or my 26k mile 6+ year old Versus 1000 SE. Or both, or none. Decisions, Decisions.

Yea that would be a tough decision. Can you really do justice to all 3? If so, keep em. Sometimes I'd like to be down to just 1 (had 6 at one time) because doing maintenance on multiple bikes is a pain, and then finding time to ride them all, then of course there is a matter of preferring to ride one over the other. If you HAD to keep one, and get rid of two which one? We've all let some great bikes go...for some reason or another.

Easy problem to solve - Do I ride a ST1100 or do I ride a ST1100 or do I ride a ST1100 or do I ride a ST1100?

Don't for get I have 2013 V-Strom 650 also which I have not included in the formula. If I had to give up all but one I would keep the V-Strom. Problem is nobody if forcing my hand (Yet). This in it's self is the problem. "Keep them all" you say, so does the wife. Space in the townhome two car garage is at a premium. With four bikes and my jeep or the wife's car, plus cabinets, plus roll around toolbox, a washtub sink and a moto lift, + other stuff, it is a bit crowded. (Been there done that) As of now at least one bike has to go before another comes in. With the Wife's med issue, time and distance rides are an issue for me. I can get out for a couple three hours at a time but that is pretty much all I am comfortable with being away. I imagine circumstances will force my hand in the not to distance future. I would like to get down to just two. Question is which two.

Honestly chuck, the FJR is a heavy beast. It's pretty but I would let it go.

That's the one I would have said too, although I enjoyed my FJR a lot it is a heavy beast. Never would think I would say this but smaller and lighter really is good.

Didn’t want to but traded in my beloved 650 V-strom of 19 years. It still looks and runs new. The salesman thought it was a 2023 or 2024 bike (I put the stock seat I had kept for 18 years on it). No remorse. Don’t miss it. Don’t want it back. Don’t even give a damn about it now. After one day. Does that help?

I really miss my ST 1300 (except for the SMC) and that beautiful 2005 for sale on here for $3K is tough to pass up. I have to be strong lol. Needs vs Wants

Just got back from my local Mom and Pop Honda dealer (Aurora Honda) and finalize the numbers on the NT1100. Decided to trade my Big Versey 1000 SE, and keep my FJR a while longer. His computer says the NT has shipped yesterday. So I am expecting it at the end of the week or maybe early next week. Gave me a pretty good deal on the trade and almost a 20% discount on the panniers and top box etc. Plus a very good price on a 4 year extended warranty. If I decide to part with the FJR he said he will floor it for me as a consignment. Got all this in writing. All that needs to happen now is NT is delivered, I take the Versys down to the shop, We sign the official papers, and I hand him a check for the balance.

I ordered panniers. The larger, helmet fitting size isn’t available in the U.S. just the smaller in blue. Whether or not they’re interchangeable is still unconfirmed, I have an inquiry post at the NT1100 forum. One. person seems to think so w/o explanation though. I’m getting the top box for my helmet.

Did you order the inner bags for the panniers? If so do they come as a pair or a single for the price listed.
