Uncle Phil hit a deer

Hope you heal well and are back riding soon. Karen and are sending thoughts and prayers.
Mike

So if we all sign a petition to have deer season open all year, I think that would help.... Best wishes and get well soon UP!!
They really are a hazard- no natural predators (or some I guess, but the predator numbers are down as well). I don’t ride at night these days and even in the day, I’m always scanning for a surprise attack.

2:26 this afternoon on today's ride a doe started to cross the road in front of me. I hit the brakes and she turned back into the weeds. We were maybe 30 feet apart. You just never know, day or night.
"Neccessity is the mother of invention" i see where a "deer detector" is in the near future? something that identifies deer and and forces them away! We are working on going to Mars,, this shouldn't take much to create on earth? :laugh-2x:

Holy cow. Poor Uncle Phil is really having a tough time recently. Wishing you the very best for a rapid and total recovery, UP.

Strewth UP. So sorry to hear about this. Chest pains hurt like nothing else and repeat every second - but its a good idea to keep breathing.

Scattered around the countryside, there are numerous places that always remind me of people, things, events etc. It's as if I had left a memory that only pops back into my head when I ride through a particular location. And there is one on the very steep hill that climbs over Fleet Moss out of Hawes. And it remind me of you every time I ride past - which is quite often because it is only an hour away and its on one of my favourite short lets-go-and-have-a-quick ride routes. Why you ? Because it was one of your ride reports that informed me that "the hill that climbs very steeply a few miles out of Hawes" was actually called 'Beggarman's Road'.

We don't have deer - sheep are more of an issue, and one jumped out at me a while back from under the Armco - just as I was nosediving down the steep bit. Panic, but no contact thank goodness. But I noticed on Monday that they have put fencing there to keep the sheep off the road. Anyway I was thinking of you again on Monday as we rode down.

Late to the news, real sorry about this.
More prayers up for fast and complete healing!
I'll be looking forward to the after-incident report from UP, specifically as regards the performance of his vest.
The number of ribs he still has UN- broken is diminishing, he's been steadily breaking them in each of his recent getoffs. Not making light of this, he sure has been through our worst imaginations these last few years.
Thanks to those updating the status of our dear friend.
